Attendance

At South Wootton Junior School, we believe that regular attendance and positive behaviour are key to every child’s success. Missing school can impact learning, wellbeing, and future opportunities.

Every child of compulsory school age is entitled to a full-time education. Parents have a legal duty to ensure their child attends school regularly and on time, unless there are exceptional circumstances such as illness or authorised absence.

Our Attendance Policy follows the Department for Education’s guidance: Working Together to Improve School Attendance. It reflects our commitment to:

  • Supporting families to overcome barriers to attendance.
  • Promoting pupil welfare and safeguarding.
  • Ensuring access to high-quality education.
  • Helping pupils achieve and thrive.
  • Opening up opportunities during and beyond school life.
