How can we partition 12?
Showing our workings.
In Year 4 we have been using the Numicon to help us with our multiplication. We used the equipment to help us partition 2 digit numbers. For example, for the calculation 18 x 4 = , we partitioned 18 into 5+5+4+4. We then multiplied each of these numbers by 4; 5x4=20, 5x4=20, 4x4=16, 4x4=16. Then we added the answers up; 20+20+16+16 to give us the answer 72! The numicon helped us before we moved onto writing the calculation down using the grid method.
Quiz Club 2016
Ben, Anshuman, Noah & Lexie
Jack, Hanley, Bethany & Keira
On Tuesday 9th February, we travelled to Blofield Primary School in Norwich to compete in the Quiz Club area heat. We were up against 6 other teams from other schools. We worked really well in our two teams and came 5th and 6th out of 8 teams. Well done to everyone and thank you also to the parents and grandparents who provided transport and encouragement as well.
Brilliant Club Graduation at the UEA.
On Saturday 30th January, seven children from Y5/6 attended a special graduation ceremony at the University of East Anglia. The event, to mark the successful completion of their 1000 word assignments about nature in literature, was organised by The Brilliant Club. It was a great opportunity for families to celebrate with their children and spend time exploring our local university campus. Unfortunately, not all of the children in the group were able to attend the event, but we congratulate everyone who took part in this programme.
