This year, 5S have already enjoyed a trip to Norwich Castle and to Swaffham Museum. The children were extremely well behaved during both trips, noted by members of staff and parents! At Norwich Castle, I was impressed with the knowledge the children had already gained in our topic, Ancient Egyptians.
I have also been impressed with the standard of their Ancient Egyptian homework, will lots of Golden Awards being received for their outstanding work.
Keep up the fantastic homework this term, with the topic of Europe and the Americas!
In Maths, the children have been building on their methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and I can see improvements in their enthusiasm for these four operations. Further, the children have begun to add and subtract fractions and decimals, as well as find percentages of numbers! Particularly, I would like to work on 5S’s ability to solve word problems, involving these four operations, so any extra practise done at home would be much appreciated!
We are continuing to build our knowledge of a large variety of texts such as; letters, persuasive texts, stories, poems, newspaper articles and more! It’s great to see the children’s knowledge of different genres increase. As well as this, the school is especially focusing on vocabulary, both in the children’s’ spoken language, and in their writing. We would like the children to be adventurous in the words they use, and ensure they understand the meaning of these impressive words!
This year, there is particular excitement during French lessons, and the children love completing word searches in French, learning the names of animals, colours, physical appearance descriptions and much more! We’ve even played BINGO!
Thank you to all those parents who came in to support us during our Parents' Evening last term. It was a great pleasure to meet you all and put faces to the people the children inevitably speak about every day! It was good to hear your perspective on your child's learning and personality. As I said at parents evening, your input is invaluable and I will be acting upon your advice to enhance their learning experiences.
