Welcome to class 5C, whether you are a present parent or child within the class or school, or are a past parent or student just checking to see how well SWJS is doing. Thank you for taking the time to view our class page which I will endeavour to keep up-to-date with information about all the superb things we have been doing within class.
We have a lot to pack in this year and I am sure the time will fly past as we will all be working really hard and having lots of fun!.
Throughout the year, our topics are The Invaders, looking at The Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, as well as The Celts in the Autumn Term, which will consist of a trip to The Lynn Museum where we will complete a number of activities on the Stone and Bronze ages. In the Spring Term, we will be studying Oceans and Seas, including a trip to the Sea Life Centre and then finally our topic in the final term will be Romans Rule, where we will be visiting the Norwich Castle Museum to aid our studies.
The work the children complete will be very cross-curricular, with each of our topics being studied in Literacy, Art as well as within Topic lessons, so the children will have an in-depth knowledge of each theme at the end of the particular term. To complement this further, half-termly homework will be set, based on the topic being studied.
Most importantly, sport will again involve a number of the children in 5C with sports clubs beginning again in September running throughout the year and a number of competitions will take place including: swimming, tag-rugby, cross-country, dance, girls and boys football matches, hockey, netball and athletics. There will also be opportunities for the children to compete in not so well known sports, such as Ultimate Frisbee and New Age Kurling. Furthermore, we will again be running a number of whole school activities including House Competitions and a Healthy Living Week in the Summer Term.
Don't forget PE is now on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this term - Please make sure the children bring PE kits to school on these days and appropriate clothing for the forecasted weather conditions.
I know we are all raring to go and have lots of enthusiasm and positivity for the year ahead. Any questions or queries please don't hesitate to contact the school.
