Welcome to the wonderful world of Year 5 and Upper Key Stage 2. We very much hope that all of the children will have an enjoyable and rewarding year. The expectations of both behaviour and attitude to learning will be consistently high throughout the year. We very much realise that it is a partnership between home and school that will result in the best for your child and look forward to working closely with you this year.
We have attached this half term's homework task grid and would ask that the children complete the tasks to the best of their ability and present their work well. In addition research proves that a child that reads to a good standard will achieve well across all other curriculum areas. It is therefore essential that parents listen to their child read regularly, and importantly, discuss their reading with them. We expect as a minimum that your child will read and record their reading in their Home/School diaries four times a week.
Weekly spellings will be sent home every week. These are differentiated to your child's ability.
P.E days are Wednesday and Thursday. Please ensure that both Summer and Winter kits are in school on these days and, like their uniforms, all items need to be named.
Our topics this year are: Earth Matters,; Wicked Weather and The Seaside.
If you have any concerns please put a note in your child's diary or contact the office to make an appointment to see us.
